About the Role

At Hackensack Meridian Health, we are committed to delivering exceptional patient care and experiences. As a Patient Access Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our patients receive timely and accurate access to our healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greets Patients and Visitors: Provide a warm and welcoming experience for patients and visitors, ensuring that they feel comfortable and supported throughout their visit.
  • Implement Scheduling and Registration Policies: Adhere to our scheduling, pre-registration, pre-certification, and registration policies to ensure seamless patient flow and efficient use of resources.
  • Verify Patient Information: Accurately verify patient demographics, insurance information, and medical history to ensure that our patients receive the best possible care.
  • Coordinate Bed Planning and Scheduling: Work closely with our bed planning and scheduling teams to ensure that patients are assigned to the correct unit and receive timely access to our healthcare services.
  • Process Insurance and Financial Information: Verify insurance coverage, process payments, and ensure that patients understand their financial responsibilities.
  • Provide Excellent Customer Service: Deliver exceptional customer service to our patients, families, and healthcare teams, ensuring that their needs are met and exceeded.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent: A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this role.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for this role, as you will be interacting with patients, families, and healthcare teams on a daily basis.
  • Basic Medical Terminology Knowledge: A basic understanding of medical terminology is required for this role.
  • Proficient Computer Skills: Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms, are required for this role.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree and/or Related Experience: A bachelor's degree and/or related experience in a healthcare setting is preferred for this role.
  • Patient Financial Services Experience: Experience in patient financial services, including registration and insurance verification, is preferred for this role.
  • EPIC HB, Cadence, and Prelude Experience: Experience with EPIC HB, Cadence, and Prelude is preferred for this role.
