Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Content Producer to join our team at Scripps Broadcasting Holdings LLC. As a key member of our newsroom, you will be responsible for creating, leading, and organizing content for multiple platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and produce newscasts and local programs, utilizing strong editorial, journalistic, and organizational skills.
  • Research, develop, and plan stories that support our content strategy, including live and prerecorded newscasts and local programs.
  • Collaborate with reporters, anchors, news managers, producers, and assignment editors to determine content needs and storytelling direction for multiple platforms.
  • Provide training and coaching to producers and associate producers to develop their overall skill set, consistent with our content strategy.
  • Enhance content with graphics, video, research, and station branding.
  • Execute time-sensitive decisions and oversee live broadcasts and up-to-the-minute editorial decisions.
  • Perform desktop editing and post content to our station's websites.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent years of experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to train others and a strong desire to develop the skills of others.
  • Avid local news consumer with a strong understanding of daily news, events, trends, and happenings on a local level.
  • Strong vision and ability to advance stories.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Passion for writing and a courageous and creative approach to storytelling.
  • Highly organized and adaptable, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong self-motivation and a working knowledge of journalistic ethics and libel laws.
  • Able to use web analytics and proficient with newsroom computer systems and MS Office.
