Director of Operations

At DesignList, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Operations to lead our Washington DC studio. This is a unique opportunity to join a collaborative design culture and make a meaningful impact on our business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage overall operations and profitability of the studio, aligning with the firm's business goals.
  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve critical success factors and mitigate business risks.
  • Ensure the quality of project deliverables through strong QA/QC review, staff hiring, training, and utilization.
  • Evaluate and mentor staff to encourage professional growth and leadership development.
  • Participate in marketing activities, including proposal development and project scopes.
  • Function as the Principal-in-Charge on projects.
  • Manage the office's operating budget and monitor financial performance.
  • Improve processes and efficiencies through innovation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture, engineering, or interior design from an accredited college or university.
  • Registered Architect or Professional Engineer.
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in operational management of an architecture, engineering, or multi-disciplinary practice.
  • Ability to plan tasks and resources for architectural design projects.
  • Thorough understanding of legal and financial aspects of professional practice.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
