Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Scientist 2 to join our R&D team within the Cell and Gene Portfolio in the Chemistry and Lab Automation Department at Waters Corporation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement chromatography consumables to improve the characterization of cell and gene therapy drugs and substances.
  • Contribute to the scale-up of chemical synthesis processes and transfer them to manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with senior investigators on research and development of new chromatography stationary phases.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest literature in the research area.
  • Accurately document research findings.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, health, and quality program requirements.

Requirements

  • Master's degree with 1-3 years or Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of work experience in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
  • Experience with chemical synthesis process scale-up and transfer to manufacturing is required.
  • Ability to implement synthesis experiments independently with some supervision.
  • Comfortable operating equipment over 10L reactors and heavy equipment (up to 20 lbs) on occasion.
  • Preferred background in organic/inorganic particle synthesis, surface modification, or protein immobilization.
  • Excellent documentation skills with attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work effectively in a group environment.
  • Proficient in utilizing Microsoft software.
  • Able to safely work in a chemical synthesis lab.
