Position Overview

The role of the Project Engineer at Swinerton Incorporated is vital in supporting the management team to ensure project profitability and adherence to schedules.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform essential responsibilities typical of an Entry Level/Intern Project Engineer.
  • Attend and document project meetings, including writing detailed minutes.
  • Establish and maintain an organized electronic filing system.
  • Update and manage all sets of drawings, specifications, and logs.
  • Assist in the preparation of Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules.
  • Support the updating and maintenance of the master CPM schedule.
  • Evaluate and comprehend basic construction methodologies.
  • Maintain a site-specific safety plan and pre-task planning process, including conducting audits and training sessions.
  • Distribute all project documents to subcontractors and maintain comprehensive document logs.
  • Assess field issues and document Project Change Instructions (PCI).
  • Prepare and maintain PCI logs within the CMiC system.
  • Review, analyze, and transmit submittals effectively.
  • Maintain logs for submittals and procurement.
  • Execute expediting functions as necessary.
  • Verify and code time sheets with correct cost codes.
  • Code Accounts Payable workflows as assigned.
  • Confirm original estimate quantities for labor cost reports.
  • Report quantities in place and maintain labor cost reports.
  • Prepare and document extra work orders as required.
  • Review and compile change order submittals and quantity surveys.
  • Maintain PCI logs in the CMiC system.
  • Establish and uphold a Quality Management system.
  • Maintain a progress photo album to document project advancements.
  • Compile contract closeout documents, including O&M manuals and as-built drawings.
  • Maintain record set drawings and document punch list work.
  • Perform basic functions related to Building Information Modeling (BIM) and model administration.
  • Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture, or completion of a Construction Management Certificate Program, or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of relevant construction experience, or equivalent.
  • Preferred experience includes construction-related internships.
  • Field experience, such as carpentry, is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of construction cost accounting principles.
  • Fundamental estimating and scheduling skills.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Capacity to exercise independent judgment and self-initiate tasks.
  • Advanced drafting and computer skills are advantageous.
  • Familiarity with virtual construction technology systems is preferred.
