Job Description

MATT Construction, a leading general contractor, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Engineer to lead project engineer responsibilities and mentor the development of project engineers on the project.

The successful candidate will work closely with the project manager throughout the project, including the buyout and procurement process, budget management, and schedule maintenance. They will also interface with the superintendent on field walks and review the quality of delivered and installed materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and build relationships with clients, owners, architects, and subcontractors to ensure repeat business and recommendations.
  • Manage subcontractor qualifying, procurement, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and punch lists.
  • Identify scope gaps and manage QAQC procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with the project superintendent to ensure project safety.
  • Execute 3-week look-ahead schedules.
  • Recruit and mentor younger project engineers and interns.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction, architecture, or engineering preferred, but experience will be considered in lieu of education.
  • 4 years of commercial construction industry experience.
  • Experience with fast-paced schedules and effective time-management skills.
  • General knowledge of Type I and Type V construction means and methods.
  • Proficient knowledge of estimating.
  • Basic understanding of accounting and cost control procedures.
  • Ability to read plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ability to write accurate and thought-out scopes for bid documents and analyze bids from subcontractors.
  • Ability to process shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Bluebeam, BIM/Revit, P6, and Procore.
  • Ability to communicate diplomatically at all levels, from front-line to C-suite.
