Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the District Division Chief for Maintenance, this position is responsible for implementing, evaluating, and sustaining major programs and policies in the field maintenance operations for the Structural Steel Paint Maintenance Region covering the Bay Area toll bridges and other statewide bridges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the District 04 Maintenance Division equipment training center.
  • Oversee the DTC/HTC/RTC Programs, which support the Division/Districts safety and training goals.
  • Ensure the MMI collaborates with other MMIs to support maintenance operations/structural steel paint operations.
  • Supervise field operations for the Structural Steel Region, providing staffing, training, and resources.
  • Establish and oversee uniform maintenance practices and level of service.
  • Coordinate field maintenance activities with other offices, divisions, headquarters, other departments, and local agencies.
  • Handle public complaints.
  • Utilize information provided by the Integrated Maintenance Management System (IMMS), Bay Area Incident Response System (BAIRS), and Maintenance Expense Tracking System (METS) to plan and monitor workload levels, directing equipment and materials utilization.
  • Ensure budgetary, time-keeping, and procurement needs are provided.
  • Review and approve personnel transactions, issues, and requests for adverse action.
Requirements:
  • Possession of a valid California Drivers License (CDL).
  • Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Caltrans Maintenance Manager II Exam.
