Position Overview:
At Danbury Hospital, we are seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist to deliver exceptional care to our patients.

Summary:
Physical Therapists play a crucial role in identifying, preventing, and rehabilitating both acute and chronic physical impairments or discomfort. This position encompasses the treatment of a diverse patient demographic, including children, adults, and seniors.

Potential Treatment Settings:
- In-patient care
- Out-patient services
- Pediatric therapy

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive physical therapy assessments for patients with intricate health conditions.
  • Develop and implement tailored treatment plans for complex cases, utilizing specialized interventions and equipment.
  • Educate and train patients and their families on therapeutic practices.
  • Engage in peer evaluations and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure thorough documentation in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Initiate and coordinate discharge planning for patients.

Professional Development:

- Attend a minimum of 20 hours of continuing education annually, or pursue an advanced degree.
- Provide 10 hours of in-service training to colleagues each year.


  • Offer clinical mentorship to students and new staff members.
  • Assist in annual competency assessments and training.
  • Support patient scheduling and staffing requirements.
  • Provide supervisory coverage as needed.
  • Adhere to all compliance obligations associated with the role.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy

Qualifications:
Required:
- Experience in treating patients with neurological disorders.

Preferred:
- Specialty certification and progress towards an advanced degree.
- Functional Independent Measurement (FIM) certification and CPR certification.

Work Environment:
Manual Skills:
- Requires significant manual dexterity and coordination.

Occupational Hazards:
- Exposure to various occupational risks.

Physical Demands:
- Involves very heavy physical effort, with the ability to exert up to 50 lbs of force.

Physical Setting:
- May encounter exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and other environmental factors.
