The Role
We are seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to architect, implement, and manage globally distributed systems that enable Kuiper to function effectively within realistic virtual environments at scale. You will utilize cutting-edge AWS technologies and adhere to industry-leading software engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop distributed cloud-based services and APIs.
- Collaborate with teams across device software, frontend, networking, and security engineering.
- Promote best practices in engineering excellence and mentor junior engineers.
A Day in the Life
In this position, you will create new cloud services and APIs that facilitate the simulation of software on Kuiper devices, including satellites, ground gateways, and customer terminals. Your work will involve building low-latency, highly scalable architectures that are essential for delivering high-quality internet services to our customers.
About the Team
Our team is responsible for developing the cloud systems and APIs that support software simulations on Kuiper devices, ensuring the deployment of high-quality software onto hardware.
Basic Qualifications
- Over 5 years of professional software development experience.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language with 5+ years of experience.
- Experience leading design or architecture of systems with a focus on reliability and scalability.
- Proven experience as a mentor or tech lead.
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive experience with the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.

Compensation
Our compensation structure reflects the labor costs across various U.S. geographic markets. The base salary for this role varies based on market location and may range from $151,300 to $261,500 annually, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base pay, Amazon offers a comprehensive total compensation package that may include equity, sign-on bonuses, and a wide array of medical, financial, and other benefits.
