About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health Specialist V to join our team at the Texas Military Department. As a key member of our mental health and wellness team, you will play a critical role in promoting the mental fitness and well-being of our service members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and provide mental health counseling services to service members, including crisis intervention and case management.
  • Develop and implement mental health-related psychoeducational skills training programs for service members, including suicide prevention, resilience, and substance use.
  • Facilitate peer support groups for service members and provide referrals to community resources as needed.
  • Collect and analyze data to identify trends and patterns of harmful behaviors, and present findings to the Integrated Primary Prevention/Joint Resiliency Directorate.
  • Serve as a behavioral health advisor to the prevention workforce, providing expertise on prevention of domestic violence, self-harm, sexual violence, sexual harassment, and workplace violence.
  • Coordinate and support the development of Risk Mitigation Plans in collaboration with the Risk Reduction Program.
  • Follow up to determine the effectiveness of evidence-informed treatment and make recommendations for modification to services and service delivery.
  • Coordinate with the Texas Military Department Family Support Services programs to offer holistic support and resources to clients.
  • Participate in the planning process to implement programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Attend relevant training and continuing education to maintain licensure and stay current with best practices.
Requirements
  • Master's or PhD degree in counseling, social work, or a related field.
  • Three years' experience as an independently licensed behavioral health provider (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, PhD, PsyD) by the State of Texas.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams).
  • Valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
  • One of the following licenses: LPC, LCSW, LMFT, PhD, or PsyD.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Military experience or working with military service members.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
