We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our General Accounting department as a Staff Accountant. This role will be responsible for assisting with the month-end close, financial reporting, invoicing, and various special projects as assigned.
Key Responsibilities- Support the timely and accurate month-end close by performing various monthly journal entries as assigned, including revenue entries, payroll entries, expense accruals, and other related tasks.
- Prepare timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations and P&L flux analyses as assigned.
- Prepare and compile various components of the monthly Financial Reporting Package for review and distribution.
- Prepare, distribute, and follow up on various manual invoices to customers across various lines of business, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
- Complete various special projects as assigned, including budget preparation support, exam delivery invoice reconciliations, Form 990 preparation, support for the annual and employee benefit plan audits, and participation in enhancements to the accounting system or internal processes/procedures.
- Support or act in the capacity of a back-up for one or more of the various functions of general accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable/cash applications, investment/treasury functions, fixed assets, and other related tasks.
- Support the financial deliverables of various collaborations by working with internal staff and collaboration partners on financial reporting for internal staff or governance meetings, budget/forecast preparation, monthly accounting activity, and various ad hoc requests for data or analytics related to historical or projected financial results.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, organized, and good computer skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, motivated to learn, takes initiative.
- Two or more years in general accounting or finance.
- Microsoft Excel and Word experience required.
- Experience with Oracle, a plus.
- Non-profit (Form 990) tax preparation experience, a plus.
- Auditing or preparation of financial statements and employee benefit plan financial statements, a plus.
