Description

The Maintenance Specialist II is responsible for executing skilled tasks in the upkeep and restoration of county buildings and facilities. This role encompasses licensed maintenance and repair of electrical, plumbing, or mechanical systems, alongside various maintenance duties that require state or local licensing, adhering to the Uniform Building Code. The employee will perform licensed work across multiple trades, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and painting.

Key Responsibilities

1. Conducts skilled repairs on malfunctioning electrical systems, including high voltage distribution panels, switches, sockets, plugs, fuses, and insulators.

2. Collaborates with management to prepare budget estimates and solicitations.

3. Maintains fire and security systems, ensuring all alarms and systems are operational.

4. Assesses electrical loads and recommends enhancements for electrical services; establishes and executes a routine maintenance schedule for all equipment.

5. Oversees repairs and maintenance of emergency generators.

6. Diagnoses temperature discrepancies and adjusts thermostatic controls.

7. Replaces or cleans refrigerants in compliance with EPA regulations.

8. Supervises a Maintenance Assistant or Community Service Workers regularly.

9. Researches project costs and advises on equipment purchases.

10. Inspects contracted work for quality assurance and compliance with standards.

11. Maintains regular and punctual attendance.

12. Performs additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

1. High School diploma or GED is required.

2. A minimum of seven years of experience in a relevant field is necessary, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Certifications

1. Refrigerant Certification and State of Texas HVAC license are mandatory.

2. A valid driver's license is required, with the ability to obtain a State of Texas driver's license within 90 days.

3. Must successfully pass a State Criminal History background check.
