POSITION OVERVIEW:

The primary responsibility of this role is to generate precise estimates for fabricated metal components and assemblies. This involves gathering relevant information, analyzing critical metrics, and performing regular risk assessments. The ideal candidate will possess a strong manufacturing background, comprehensive knowledge of bills and routings for metal products, and experience with estimating ERP systems. Exceptional communication skills, attention to detail, and outstanding organizational abilities are essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the ERP quoting system or any other relevant quoting systems.
  • Comprehend the project requirements and specifications.
  • Identify key variables influencing costs and estimates.
  • Conduct research to gather data on labor costs, materials, and production timelines.
  • Review and assess offers and quotes from subcontractors or vendors.
  • Perform comprehensive risk analyses.
  • Prepare and submit estimate reports or bids to project managers, clients, and the sales team.
  • Foster relationships with key vendors, including subcontractors, suppliers, and engineers.
  • Assist in training new personnel.
  • Utilize basic mathematics skills and knowledge effectively.
  • Interpret blueprints and schematics accurately.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in relevant software, including the MS Office Suite.
  • Exhibit excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Apply strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Understand AWS and ASME Welding Codes.
  • Estimate sheet metal components and weldments proficiently.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's or associate degree in industrial or mechanical engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 12 years of experience in an Estimator role or a similar capacity.
  • Experience with ERP systems is required.
  • Advanced training in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing is preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Welding Symbols are essential.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position operates primarily in an office environment, utilizing a computer. Physical requirements include:

  • Occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.
  • Minimal lifting of 11-50 lbs.
  • Occasional bending and twisting during an 8-hour shift.
  • Limited standing or walking, not exceeding 33% of an 8-hour shift.
  • Overhead reaching and ladder/stair use are also limited.
