Job Overview

Position Summary

The Emergency Services Technician operates under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and Emergency Department Provider to execute assigned medical tasks. This role is pivotal in delivering care and treatment to patients across various age groups, adhering to established protocols and standards to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.


Key Responsibilities

The primary duties of this position include:

  • Providing support in Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Medical, Surgical (both inpatient and outpatient), Emergency, Senior Care, Chemotherapy, and Ambulance Transport as required.
  • Maintaining current certifications relevant to the scope of practice for LPNs, Paramedics, or EMTs.
  • Documenting patient care accurately using computerized systems to reflect ongoing patient needs.*
  • Working independently while exercising sound judgment to minimize errors.*
  • Exhibiting flexibility by being available for additional shifts as necessary.*
  • Assisting in the training of new personnel.
  • Participating in annual skills assessments.*
  • Utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment for various tasks.*
  • Promptly reporting any accidents, incidents, or safety concerns.*
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment and work areas as needed.*
  • Actively supporting the role of patient advocate by effectively communicating and documenting patient information to relevant resources/agencies.*
  • Performing tasks related to Health Unit Coordinator duties and patient registration when delegated by nursing staff.
  • Ensuring the department is adequately stocked with necessary supplies.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of experience as an EMT, LPN, Paramedic, or Medical Assistant in good standing.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Registered as an EMT in Minnesota.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) HCP CPR certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • National Registry EMT-I certification (if applying as an EMT).
  • AHA Instructor certification for BLS.

Work Schedule

This position involves working 12-hour shifts, typically from 8 PM to 8 AM, including every third weekend.
