About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer I to join our Product and Technology team at Charter Communications/Spectrum. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our telecommunications and signal processing hardware, software, and electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with technical operations staff to design and configure systems
  • Work with design teams and advise team leaders on system design and implementation
  • Design, implement, monitor, enhance, and troubleshoot systems in assigned areas
  • Analyze and revise existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary
  • Test and review system designs
  • Provide engineering technical support and guidance to regional personnel
  • Mentor and guide the work of technical staff
  • Review work plans and designs and advise on improvements
Requirements
  • 5+ years of engineering work experience
  • 5+ years of project management work experience
  • Masters or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field
  • Basic knowledge of related industry specifications and standards (IEEE, ANSI, Fiber, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of network design, architecture, protocols, and topology
  • Basic knowledge of TCP/IP and the OSI Model
  • Basic knowledge of network devices and basic network appliances
  • Basic knowledge of network designing software (Visio)
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with all levels of business users
  • Extensive experience with collaborating and building team consensus
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of company products and services
  • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
  • Industry and vendor-specific certifications and training
