Job Summary:

The Monitor Clerk plays a vital role in the care of patients by monitoring cardiac rhythms and performing various clerical, transcription, and maintenance tasks in the patient care unit desk area.

Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, safety plans, and regulatory standards.
  • Perform skills reflected and validated by the Monitor Technician competency checklist.
  • Document and interpret patient heart rhythms and rates using telemetry recordings.
  • Ensure patient safety by notifying the charge nurse of risk factors and initiating safety measures.
  • Exchange information effectively using good oral and written communication skills.
  • Identify patient arrhythmias or abnormalities and report changes to the assigned nurse.
  • Obtain six-second strips as needed and provide current strips to the charge nurse for evaluation.
  • Plan and organize work to utilize time, resources, and manpower effectively to ensure quality patient care.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • No licensure or certification required.
  • No prior experience necessary.
  • Fluency in verbal and written English language.
  • Capability to learn interpretation and respond protocols to ECG/SP02 monitor system and develop computer skills.

Work Details:

This is a full-time position with a rotating schedule. The salary range is $25.86 per hour, with pay offers determined by experience and internal equity.

This position is employed by UNC Health Care, a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System.
