We are seeking a skilled Monitor Tech to join our team at Northwestern Medicine. As a Monitor Tech, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care by monitoring and interpreting cardiac rhythms and other vital signs.
Key Responsibilities- Record and post rhythm strips for patients on telemetry or as needed for dysrhythmias; measure heart rate, PR, QRS, and QT at intervals, interpret, and document rhythm.
- Adjust monitoring parameters to maximize rhythm identification.
- Label the patient telemetry monitor when the patient is off the unit for a test or procedure; indicate specific treatments related to cardiac monitoring.
- Print and interpret rhythm strips, and place in the patient chart.
- Respond to alarms promptly; inform the registered nurse of any significant changes noted in the patient's cardiac rhythm or pulse oximetry reading.
- Record all admissions, discharges, and transfers of patients from central station.
- Initiate and discontinue patients for telemetry monitoring per order.
- Inform the PCT or RN of monitoring disturbances such as lead disconnect, artifact, electrical interference, etc.
- Notify the biomedical department of any transmission problems or needed repairs identified on the cardiac monitoring system.
- Enter daily charges for telemetry and SPO2.
- Serve as a resource to staff and students regarding interpretation of dysrhythmias and function of monitoring equipment.
- Clean monitors upon discontinuation of patient from the unit.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- One to two years of related work experience
