OVERVIEW

The Manufacturing Operations Leader is tasked with overseeing the production processes within the manufacturing facility. This role involves guiding team leaders and ensuring the quality and efficiency of production operations to meet customer expectations. The individual will serve as a technical expert for production activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

To excel in this position, the individual must effectively execute the following responsibilities:
  • Oversee production activities for designated departments/facility; support team leaders and monitor quality and efficiency of production to ensure adherence to company standards and customer satisfaction.
  • Propose strategies to enhance production techniques, equipment efficiency, and product quality.
  • Establish relevant metrics to assess and enhance packaging and equipment performance.
  • Assist team leaders in analyzing production orders to determine product types, quantities, packaging requirements, and container specifications.
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained in optimal working condition.
  • Delegate new tasks and projects to team members in alignment with company and departmental objectives.
  • Evaluate production timelines and estimate labor requirements for job completion. Adjust work assignments to align with production schedules.
  • Clarify company policies for team members and enforce compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Support team leaders and staff in troubleshooting machinery and equipment issues.
  • Collaborate with associates across various levels and departments to address work requests, enhance processes, and deliver excellent customer service.
  • Manage both physical and system inventory.
  • Utilize independent judgment to assign tasks to team members to fulfill operational needs. Ensure team members are equipped with the necessary information and training to perform their roles effectively.
  • Supervise team members in a manner that fosters growth and success through constructive feedback, training, and motivation. Set performance expectations and provide ongoing feedback and evaluations to ensure team members understand how their roles contribute to the company's mission and have the necessary resources to excel.
  • Investigate performance issues and implement disciplinary measures, including termination, as necessary and in accordance with company policies and in consultation with the human resources department.
  • Work alongside the human resources department to manage the recruitment process for direct reports; interview and select candidates in compliance with company protocols.
  • Maintain an open and transparent working relationship with immediate supervisors/managers regarding important matters.
  • Continuously assess processes, make recommendations, and implement enhancements to optimize efficiency. Develop and document standard operating procedures and ensure team adherence. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs or enhance productivity without compromising effectiveness. Apply lean manufacturing principles to lead the team in ongoing improvement efforts.
  • Adhere to established company values, practices, policies, and procedures consistently. Follow and support compliance with all relevant safety regulations, laws, and standards. Exercise independent judgment to ensure team members adhere to company policies and maintain a safe working environment by promoting safe practices and promptly addressing violations, including initiating rewards and disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance at the designated work location.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

An individual qualified for this role must possess the following:
  • Ability to lead and motivate team members; must be capable of building collaborative working relationships.
  • Proficiency in operating a computer and demonstrating skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Effective and professional communication skills with co-workers, team members, and internal or external clients. Ability to present information clearly and accurately.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality in completing work tasks. Seek opportunities to reduce costs or enhance productivity without sacrificing effectiveness.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, operations, engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible production experience (such as a plant supervisor, department manager, or other management/supervisory roles including manufacturing and quality responsibilities), or a satisfactory combination of education and experience demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities to fulfill the above duties.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Significant combined experience in manufacturing, maintenance, and project management is preferred.

  • The individual will primarily work in an office environment alongside other individuals. Noise levels are typical for an office setting, including conversations and office equipment.
  • While collaborating with team members at manufacturing and distribution facilities, the individual may be exposed to moving machinery, work in elevated or precarious locations, experience significant changes in temperature and humidity, and encounter dust, odors, and fumes. Typical noise levels are high.
