As an Outdoor Education Facilitator, you will embody the values of the YMCA, showcasing a positive demeanor and a commitment to excellence in all aspects of your role. Your responsibilities will include supporting the Camp Director in delivering engaging programs that are safe, enjoyable, and foster growth and learning in a nurturing atmosphere.
Our camp serves numerous students, providing them with unique opportunities to learn and thrive in a beautiful outdoor setting.
This role involves preparing and leading programs for elementary and middle school groups. Please note that this is a seasonal position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety and Risk Management
- Child and Youth Development
- Program Design and Execution
Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Red Cross CPR/First Aid Certification is required
- Previous experience in outdoor education or summer camps is preferred
- A High School Diploma is required; a college degree is preferred
Applicants should have a minimum of three months of satisfactory and verifiable experience working with middle school-aged children and teens, with six months preferred.
We seek individuals who have a genuine interest in youth development and can relate well to diverse age groups and backgrounds.
Responsibilities include developing and facilitating lessons that promote leadership and program skills, as well as planning and leading group activities.
Physical fitness is essential, as the role requires hiking, walking, standing, bending, and lifting throughout the day. Candidates must be mentally and visually alert to identify potential hazards and respond effectively to emergencies.
