Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Paraprofessional to join our team at Harrison High School. The successful candidate will provide instructional support and assistance to students with special needs, under the direction and supervision of a licensed school professional.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide instructional support and assistance to students with special needs, including emotional and behavioral support.
  • Implement approved modifications and accommodations of curriculum to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Supervise and facilitate students in the classroom and various settings, including the lunchroom, playground, and field trips.
  • Assist students with special needs, including emotional issues, self-help skills, fine and gross motor skills, visual and auditory needs, physical and medical needs, educational and prevocational skills.
  • Facilitate crisis intervention and assist students with problem-solving techniques and conflict resolution.
  • Collaborate and communicate with other special and regular educators and administrators regarding academic and behavioral issues and observations.
  • Assist with data collection, updating records and documentation, and maintaining student files and class records.
  • Attend and participate in district and building in-service opportunities and committee work.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 0-2 years of experience working with children with special needs preferred.
  • Knowledge of child development and behavior management is preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
  • Core District Special Education Paraprofessional training or requirements must be acquired within 36 months of hire.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Basic English, writing, and communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and office equipment.
  • Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required.
