Job Summary

The LPN Charge Nurse is a key member of the Ephraim McDowell Health team, responsible for making administrative decisions in the absence of senior leadership. This role requires strong leadership and supervision skills, with a focus on providing quality care and cost-effective resource management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise resident care throughout the department, coordinating resources from ancillary departments as needed.
  • Participate in direct resident care as required, utilizing the nursing process and nursing standards to plan and provide care.
  • Exhibit F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust) in all interactions with residents, families, and colleagues.
  • Collaborate with the Resident Services Manager to maintain shift responsibility and accountability for leadership and supervision of the department.
Working Conditions

The LPN Charge Nurse works in a well-lighted, ventilated, and air-conditioned area, with a schedule that may include weekends, holidays, and shift work. This role requires long periods of standing and moving around the unit, with potential exposure to unpleasant odors, sights, and sounds.

Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited LPN training program.
  • Demonstrated competence in the clinical setting.
  • Current LPN License in the State of Kentucky.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (successful completion within three months of employment).
