Position Overview
The role of the In-Home Family Services Consultant involves delivering tailored support to children and their families through a structured, skill-based approach. This position aims to empower families to implement effective solutions to their challenges by teaching essential skills and behavioral strategies while connecting them with community resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide intervention services for families in need.
- Establish and nurture collaborative relationships with families and community service providers, including healthcare professionals, legal representatives, and educational staff.
- Conduct screenings and assessments to evaluate program eligibility and identify service plan objectives.
- Offer training and guidance to families in developing practical skills and addressing behavioral issues.
- Monitor and assess family progress towards established goals, ensuring regular updates to service plans.
- Deliver outreach and prevention initiatives to enhance community awareness and provide educational resources to families.
- Maintain consistent contact with families as per program requirements, ensuring availability for crisis intervention.
- Educate families and associated personnel on managing challenging behaviors effectively.
- Assist families in identifying and utilizing community services and resources to promote self-determination.
- Encourage families to prioritize physical health and preventive care.
- Support families in leveraging their spiritual beliefs as a source of strength.
- Exemplify professionalism through respectful interactions and role modeling.
- Travel to various locations to meet with families, utilizing personal transportation as needed.
Administrative Duties
- Prepare and submit comprehensive reports regarding case load status and service plan modifications.
- Document any critical incidents in accordance with established reporting protocols.
- Ensure timely completion of necessary documentation and service plans.
- Implement feedback from supervisory staff to enhance service delivery.
- Adhere to all relevant contractual, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
- Report any changes in professional status that may impact job performance or compliance.
- May participate in training to become a certified instructor for parenting courses.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Comprehensive understanding of public assistance and social service systems.
- Familiarity with interventions such as risk assessment and crisis management.
- Ability to work independently while demonstrating flexibility and integrity.
- Knowledge of local community resources and human services.
- Effective communication skills with individuals at all organizational levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Understanding of the Boys Town model and fidelity of care principles.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field, or equivalent experience in child and family services.
- Minimum of one year of experience working with children and families.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to provide personal transportation for job-related travel.
- Availability for crisis response and flexible working hours.
- Bilingual skills may be required based on program needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in community-based programs focused on children and families.
