The ideal candidate will serve as a reliable business partner, offering guidance to management on a variety of legal issues, including corporate risk, compliance, and everyday operational challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Legal Guidance: Offer thorough legal counsel on issues affecting the organization, especially concerning construction and engineering contracts, such as EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) agreements, design contracts, EHS protocols, labor contracts, and subcontractor arrangements.
  • Document Oversight: Draft, evaluate, and amend essential legal documents that influence the company's daily functions, ensuring adherence to industry standards and US legal frameworks, covering everything from shareholder documentation to ERISA compliance.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Investigate and respond to regulatory inquiries involving state and federal agencies like the NLRB, OSHA, and EEOC. Manage domestic employment-related issues, including litigation and claims, in partnership with the Human Resources department.
  • Project and Policy Leadership: Direct and oversee assigned legal initiatives, ensuring they are completed on schedule. Work alongside other departments such as HR and compliance to interpret, uphold, and enforce corporate policies and procedures (corporate governance, ethics, Code of Conduct, leases, etc.).
  • Additional Responsibilities: Participate in various legal matters as assigned, including environmental, intellectual property, and other commercial legal concerns. Advise senior management on legal processes and corporate risk management strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor Degree with a minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of US laws and regulations, particularly those applicable to the construction sector.
  • Must be licensed and in good standing in the relevant state.
  • Experience in a comparable role within a construction or engineering context is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft, review, and negotiate intricate legal documents.
  • Strong understanding of corporate governance and risk management practices.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of providing clear and concise legal advice and support to the General Counsel.
