Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Health Specialist to join our team at the World Health Organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for detecting, verifying, and assessing public health risks across international borders.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where you will be responsible for managing IHR event-related communication as the IHR Regional Contact Point. You will also provide technical support to develop plans, communication products, and bulletins for response to health emergencies/crises.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct signal detection, verification, and event risk assessment on potential public health events of international concern notified by the International Health Regulation (IHR) National Focal Points (NF).
  • Manage IHR event-related communication received as IHR Regional Contact Point.
  • Provide technical support to develop plans, communication products, and bulletins for response to health emergencies/crises which may require the Organization's assistance.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have a Bachelor's degree in public health, epidemiology, or a health-related science from a recognized university. Five years of combined national and international experience in epidemiology, communicable diseases, and international public health are also required.

Salary

The estimated salary for this position is $50,377 per year, plus post adjustment.
