Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Equipment Design Engineer to join our team at American Honda Motor Co. The successful candidate will be responsible for introducing and implementing equipment required for new model introduction into Honda facilities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with experience in 3D CAD software and simulation tools. They will be able to identify key change points and summarize them into a specification that fixes design requirements.

The Equipment Design Engineer will work closely with the design team and plant members to achieve required quality, cost, and safety criteria. They will also be responsible for reviewing new model car part data for application into existing equipment and process or for new machine/process development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze new model car part data for application into existing equipment and process or for new machine/process development
  • Design and develop equipment and tools using 3D CAD software and simulation tools
  • Create specification documentation to summarize changepoints, establish criteria, and process/part flow
  • Lead meetings with customers to gain consensus and ensure project milestones are met
  • Conduct on-site investigations of manufacturing lines and facilities to identify areas for improvement
  • Provide on-site support to install/modify equipment to validate criteria is achieved and stable production can be achieved
Requirements
  • 4-year Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or 2-year Engineering degree with related experience
  • 2-term Co-op or internship in the field of Degree
  • Knowledge of 3D CAD systems and software
  • Background in automated equipment development
  • Excellent technical communication skills (both written and oral)
Work Environment

The Equipment Design Engineer will work in an office environment (85%) and on the manufacturing floor (15%). They must be willing to travel locally, regionally, and internationally as required on a project basis.
