About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Assistant to join our team at UofL Health - Jewish Hospital. As a key member of our Surgical Transplant ICU team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical patient care support in a caring, safe, and efficient manner, under the supervision and delegation of the Registered Nurse.
  • Assist with admission, transportation, and discharge of patients.
  • Recognize changes in patient status and report appropriate information to the Registered Nurse.
  • Assist patients with dressing, undressing, grooming, and maintaining a clean appearance.
  • Support patients with elimination/toileting needs, oral care, and transferring, repositioning, alignment, and ambulation.
  • Accommodate patient needs through responding appropriately to verbal/nonverbal expressions of needs.
  • Safeguard patient property and maintain patient living areas.
  • Protect patient rights and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Provide opportunities for independence and choice consistent with the patient's plan of care.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED/equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Preferred: Experience in a healthcare setting and State Registered Nurse Aide (SRNA) certification.
