The CLINICAL INFORMATICS EDUCATOR is tasked with evaluating, designing, executing, and assessing educational programs and services essential for supporting medical professionals (advanced practice nurses, medical students, residents, and medical staff) during their orientation, implementation, and ongoing use of electronic documentation and order entry systems.

Key Responsibilities:


Design and conduct classroom, individualized, and just-in-time (JIT) training sessions for attending physicians, physician trainees, and advanced practice providers on the clinical applications of the Epic electronic health record.


Evaluate, plan, create, and implement programs and resources that enable practitioners to acquire the necessary skills and competencies to ensure patient safety, data management, compliance, HIPAA regulations, and adherence to hospital policies and procedures.

Develop instructional materials, tools, and activities that reinforce and enhance the learning experience. Effectively communicate and present updates regarding system changes and new functionalities.

Provide assistance, facilitate problem-solving, and resolve conflicts related to practitioner interactions with the electronic health record.

Propose enhancements and assess outcomes to elevate the quality of education and patient safety. Share findings at professional gatherings.


Collaborate with educational and training partners, informatics teams, Epic analysts, and end users to coordinate improvements, address issues, and enhance quality.

Participate in departmental meetings, initiatives, quality improvement activities, and assigned committees.

Qualifications:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

A Bachelor's degree in education or a healthcare-related discipline. Prior training experience is preferred.

Proficiency in information management skills and Microsoft Office/365 applications is required. Familiarity with EMR software and/or educational technology tools (eLearning, video) is advantageous. Epic certification is expected within 18 months of employment.

Teaching skills applicable in both classroom and clinical settings. Ability to modify teaching techniques for various learner types and subject matter. Group facilitation skills are essential.


Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect effectively with medical staff, patient care services personnel, and a diverse range of hospital departments and practitioners.

Demonstrated leadership abilities through initiative, clinical decision-making, and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements:


Must possess the ability to see, hear, speak, read, and perform manual tasks with or without accommodation, and care for oneself with minimal difficulty.

Light lifting of PC and computer equipment may be necessary.

This position may occasionally require travel to locations other than the main campus.
