Main Duties & Responsibilities

Principal Responsibilities

The Procurement Specialist will secure materials from vendors at the most competitive prices while ensuring quality, reliability, and urgency are prioritized. This role involves analyzing market trends, engaging with suppliers, and recommending optimal sources for procurement.

The specialist will evaluate received quotations, select or recommend suppliers for order placements, and maintain essential records for streamlined operations.

Duties:

- Review requisitions and confer with suppliers to gather information regarding pricing, availability, and delivery timelines.

- Prepare purchase orders or bid requests.

- Assess bid proposals and negotiate contracts within budgetary constraints and authorized scope.

- Maintain procurement documentation, including purchased items or services, costs, delivery schedules, product quality, and inventory levels.

- Address issues with defective or unsatisfactory goods or services by collaborating with inspection or quality control teams, suppliers, and other stakeholders to identify discrepancies.

- Follow up on supplier Corrective Action Requests.

- Expedite the delivery of goods as necessary.

- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Experience:

3 to 5 years of relevant experience and/or training; or equivalent combinations of education and experience. Some college education is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to read and comprehend general business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. They should be capable of effectively presenting information and responding to inquiries from managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Additionally, the candidate must be able to perform calculations involving discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, area, circumferences, and volume. They should demonstrate problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret various instructions provided in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule formats.

Proficiency in using a PC and relevant software applications is essential.

Essential Physical/Mental Abilities Required:

The candidate must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently. The role requires sitting for extended periods, with occasional walking, stooping, and using hands for typing. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
