The Civil Superintendent is a critical field leadership position and is foundational to our projects' success and safety. The Civil Superintendent will oversee construction of civil projects in the field, providing leadership to field foremen, and ensure successful completion of trade work. The Superintendent will also work closely with the Project Manager to ensure timely and quality completion of construction process.
Key Responsibilities- Implement and Maintain Safety Protocols: Assist in implementation of project-specific safety and accident prevention programs and maintain safe work areas through regular job-site inspections.
- Lead Safety and EEO Programs: Lead McCarthy's Task Hazard Analysis (THA) process and implement all safety and EEO/Affirmative Action programs.
- Manage Field Operations: Schedule and manage multiple crews performing various tasks across the project site.
- Develop Logistics Plan: Develop a project site logistics plan.
- Communicate with Stakeholders: Comprehend contract drawings/specifications and communicate with owners, inspectors and other trades.
- Allocate Resources: Allocate resources, plan activities, review work and manage consumables/equipment, including compiling a comprehensive bill of materials and coordinating deliveries.
- Lead Field Personnel: Manage McCarthy's field personnel to achieve optimum performance.
- Review Budgets: Review and understand material budgets and equipment budgets.
- Monitor Project Costs: Monitor project costs and identify areas for improvement.
- Lead Quality Process: Provide leadership in quality process.
- Lead Safety and Accident Prevention: Provide leadership in the safety and accident prevention programs.
- Document Construction Activities: Document daily construction activities.
- Coordinate Subcontractors: Chair weekly subcontractor coordination meetings.
- Issue Schedules: Issue and maintain short term schedules.
- Review Shop Drawings and Submittals: Assist Project Engineers in review of Shop Drawing and Submittals.
- Assist in Estimating: Assist Estimating in bidding opportunities and Preconstruction services.
- Develop CPM Schedule: Assist in development of detailed CPM Schedule.
- Develop Scope of Work: Assist in development of Detailed Scope of Work.
- Verify As-Built Drawings: Verify that As-Built drawings are kept current.
- Develop Chart of Accounts: Assist Project Manager in development of Chart of Accounts.
- Field Leadership Experience: 7+ years of applicable field leadership experience in underground utility installation.
- Civil Construction Experience: Experience with self-perform large scale civil and underground utility projects.
- Software Experience: Experience with HCSS/Heavy Jobs, Procore or Bluebeam a plus.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or other a plus.
- Leadership Experience: Previous experience directing and coordinating multiple crews and subcontractors.
- Civil Construction Knowledge: Knowledge of civil construction principles/practices required.
