Job Overview

DBA Construction, Inc. is a leading heavy civil contractor with a strong presence in Arizona, offering a wide range of expertise in heavy highway construction, streets, concrete flatwork, concrete structures, earthwork, bridge, and wet utilities.

The Project Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting the field Superintendent and Project Manager, assisting with the planning, management, and administration of projects. This position requires a detail-oriented and effective communicator who can work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reviews and evaluates shop drawings, plans, specifications, material requirements, and project data to ensure quality and specification compliance.
  • Performs daily production evaluations, schedule, and budget projections to track project performance.
  • Collaborates with project management and Superintendent to review production schedules and confirm availability of materials, equipment, and resources.
  • Provides technical input for project work plans and scheduling, identifying potential risks that could impact the budget or schedule.
  • Prepares and manages three-week work plans, notifying the project management team of significant schedule changes and developing solutions to mitigate delays and costs.
  • Initiates and manages Requests for Information (RFIs) as needed.
  • Reviews quotes, subcontracts, and Purchase Orders with the project team to ensure correct quantities and scope.
  • Coordinates subcontractors, services, and material delivery.
  • Writes, manages, and tracks RFI's.
  • Maintains control of all project documentation.
  • Effectively communicates and self-manages responsibilities.
  • Assists Project Managers and Estimators as required with various tasks.
Requirements
  1. Ability to read and understand concrete/civil plans.
  2. Ability to create and track job schedules and three-week look ahead.
  3. Knowledge of RFI's and experience with creating and working with them.
  4. Knowledge of permits and applying for permitting.
  5. Experience with setting up, tracking, and refreshing One Call.
  6. Experience with submitting Traffic Control/right of way permits.
  7. Knowledge of sending, receiving, and tracking Submittals.
