Position Overview
This full-time faculty role in the Department of African American & African Studies at the University of Minnesota is designed for an accomplished scholar at the rank of advanced assistant professor, tenured associate professor, or tenured full professor. The successful candidate will engage in a vibrant academic community, focusing on both undergraduate and graduate education.

Responsibilities
The faculty member will be expected to:

  • Conduct a robust program of scholarly research.
  • Develop and teach a range of undergraduate and graduate courses.
  • Advise students at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Contribute to departmental, collegiate, and professional service.

Research Focus
We are particularly interested in candidates whose research intersects with key themes in African American Studies, including but not limited to:

  • Black transnational studies
  • Black digital studies
  • Black music and disability studies
  • Comparative race, ethnicity, and gender studies
  • Social movements and racial capitalism
  • Health disparities and public policy

Qualifications
