Job Overview:

As a Supported Employment Specialist, you will play a crucial role in promoting employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities in Richmond and surrounding areas.

About the Role:

This field-based position requires an organized self-starter who can work independently or as part of a team to provide direct services and supports to individuals on job sites. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with disabilities and be able to build community partnerships to establish business relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage in business development to promote employment of people with disabilities
  • Provide individualized services and supports to employees with disabilities on job sites
  • Work evenings and weekends to accommodate consumers' schedules
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information
  • Utilize computer skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to complete job duties
  • Hold a valid driver's license

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience working in diverse environments or commitment to fostering diversity at VCU
  • Proven ability to carry out job duties in a professional manner
  • Above-average verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build community partnerships
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • A valid driver's license
