Position Overview:


Utilizes professional expertise and skills within the pharmacy department to ensure that patients receive optimal quality and safety in their medication management.


Reporting Structure:
Reports to the Pharmacy Director

Evaluates and interprets all physician medication orders, including IV admixtures and total parenteral nutrition (TPN)

Manages the handling of controlled substances in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations as well as pharmacy policies

Oversees the preparation and distribution of medications from the pharmacy

Assists the Director in training and onboarding new staff and supervising pharmacy technicians

Supports patient billing and inventory management activities under the guidance of the Assistant Director

Contributes to quality assurance and medication utilization review initiatives

Engages in all clinical functions with professionalism and competence

Performs additional responsibilities related to pharmacy practice

Applies knowledge of age-specific considerations appropriately to patient care, adhering to relevant policies and procedures

Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Graduate of an accredited pharmacy program - Required

Licensed pharmacist in the state of practice

Essential Skills

Demonstrates critical thinking abilities, sound judgment, and the capacity to work independently. Must thrive in a fast-paced environment and respond effectively to challenges.

Licensure Requirements

Current pharmacy licensure in the relevant state

Experience Requirements

Experience in a hospital setting is preferred but not mandatory. Familiarity with automation systems is advantageous but not essential. Proficiency in computer skills and typing is preferred but not required.
