Position Summary:
This job opportunity is for a technical leader within the D403 Technical Services team at General Dynamics Electric Boat. The D403 team is responsible for the creation, upkeep, and dissemination of logistics technical data (LTD) pertaining to all classes of submarines. This data includes manuals for ship systems, component technical documentation, steam and electric plant guides, as well as maintenance and alteration records.
The chosen candidate will deliver technical direction and oversight for both new and revised LTD.
They will be tasked with ensuring the integrity of interactive electronic technical manuals and confirming that all products are developed in line with established procedures and protocols.
The selected individual will frequently collaborate with various engineering disciplines, shipyard teams, and Navy representatives to address or gain clarity on technical and programmatic challenges.
As necessary, the candidate will participate in kickoff meetings, assess designs, and provide estimates for man-hours required for manual revisions or other deliverables as appropriate.
Additionally, they will coordinate with management to set priorities, formulate schedules, and oversee workload distribution. The selected candidate will also propose and implement initiatives for process enhancements as deemed suitable.Qualifications:
Essential:
Over 10 years of relevant experience and/or experience with US naval nuclear operations
Strong understanding of naval nuclear propulsion systems and their operational protocols
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Desirable:
Successful completion of the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program
Eligibility to serve as a Naval Nuclear Engineer or experience as an Engineering Department Master Chief
A technical foundation in submarine systems and components, along with submarine operational experience, is highly preferred
Familiarity with special emphasis programs (DSS-SOC, SUBSAFE, and Fly-by-Wire) requirements is advantageous
Knowledge of submarine LTD is beneficial
Skills:
Candidates must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication abilities and possess the capability to work autonomously. Skills in planning, organizing, and scheduling tasks are essential. The ability to guide others in completing assignments is required. A technical background in submarine systems and components, along with submarine operational experience, is highly valued. Familiarity with special emphasis programs (DSS-SOC, SUBSAFE, and Fly-by-Wire) requirements is advantageous. Knowledge of submarine Logistics Technical Data (Ship System Manual, Technical Manuals, etc.) is also desired.
