As a Marine Engineering Support Specialist, you will be part of a dedicated team responsible for assessing and overseeing the delivery of a new class of amphibious vessels for the United States Navy and Marine Corps.
This position is contingent upon your ability to secure, maintain, and transfer your Secret clearance after employment.
Our team is guided by a Program Manager with extensive experience in the Department of Defense and the shipbuilding sector. Our Naval Acquisition and Sustainment Operations deliver essential services to nearly all U.S. Navy amphibious ships and crafts. Serco is proud to support the U.S. Navy as a primary contractor, providing professional support services in amphibious warfare and expeditionary operations. We are dedicated to equipping the U.S. Navy with the engineering and subject matter expertise necessary to tackle all challenges, and we welcome individuals with commitment, talent, and diverse skill sets to join the Serco Amphibious Warfare Team.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Provide technical assistance for requirements development, concept creation, engineering, integration and testing, and performance analysis as directed by Technical Division stakeholders.
- Support senior technical staff and project managers in various technical activities related to system and product development, including:
- Addressing technical inquiries and concerns, particularly from a comprehensive system integration viewpoint.
- Participating in working group meetings.
- Reviewing system schematics.
- Assisting the Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) manager with technical system issues.
- Creating white papers and presentation materials.
- Offer technical guidance and review during Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDRs), and Test & Evaluation of components and systems.
- Collect information and data, conduct various tests, and perform engineering calculations and analyses.
- Travel for site visits, audits, or inspections as necessary.
- Execute additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Compensation
In accordance with local pay transparency laws, the salary range for this position is $73,214.46 to $122,024.01. However, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
Qualifications
To excel in this position, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering along with a minimum of 2 to 4 years of relevant experience with HM&E systems, addressing engineering inquiries, and reviewing HM&E system schematics.
- In certain cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for candidates with over 6 years of relevant work experience.
- Work experience may be adjusted based on education or specialized knowledge applicable to positions involving new technology or labor market shortages.
- The ability to obtain and maintain an active Department of Defense clearance post-employment.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite programs, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
Additional Desired Experience and Skills
Prior experience in a shipyard or within the Navy marine shipbuilding industry is preferred.
