About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Specialty Technician to join our team at Ethos Veterinary Health. As a key member of our specialty services team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our veterinarians in delivering world-class medicine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support all specialty services where needed, providing history, vitals, and concerns to doctors to assist in timely and appropriate patient management.
  • Work with other specialty department technicians and assistants to perform diagnostics, execute treatment plans, assist with surgeries, and monitor anesthesia.
  • Communicate medical updates, financials, and treatment plans to owners as necessary.
  • Facilitate patient care of outpatient appointments for specialty departments, including consultations and rechecks.
  • Perform IV, IM, and SQ injections, IV catheter placements, and advanced veterinary technician skills, such as arterial catheter placement, epidural administration, and splint placements.
  • Perform radiographs and assist with all types of surgery, anesthesia, and other procedures as needed.
  • Participate in surgery team responsibilities, including setting up and turning over Operating Rooms, preparing exam rooms and instruments, and completing daily safety and cleaning duties.
  • Administer medication and manage/monitor patients during surgical procedures, including pre and post-op care and anesthesia recovery.
  • Perform and assist with all aspects of animal restraint for exams and procedures.
  • Utilize Ezyvet and Smartflow for documentation of patient care.
  • Communicate with clients, including financial estimates and collecting payment.
  • Interface with and assist other departments within the hospital as needed.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 1 year of animal experience required.
  • At least 2 years of anesthesia experience required.
  • Veterinary Technician Certification/Registration required.

  • Ability to multitask and anticipate needs.
  • Excellent communication skills in all areas, including clients, staff, and leadership.
  • Great work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Ability to adhere to strict attendance policies.
  • Ability to handle fluctuation caseload and emergency situations.
Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee will encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work environment is predominantly indoors with occasional outdoor exposure when walking patients.
