Job Summary

As a Pilot Rotor Wing Aviation Specialist at Air Methods, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of medical crew and patients to receiving hospitals within an assigned operational area. This role requires a high level of expertise in aviation operations, Federal Aviation Regulations, and aeronautical knowledge.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner, adhering to Federal Aviation Regulations and aeronautical guidelines.
  • Conduct thorough pre-flight checks to ensure the aircraft is airworthy, verifying the Daily Flight Log and completing a walk-around inspection.
  • Exercise final authority regarding aircraft operations and passenger safety, ensuring compliance with Air Methods policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of aircraft and medical systems, ensuring the medical flight team is familiar and comfortable with the medical interior and systems.
  • Complete required documentation and participate in Air Methods meetings, activities, and community outreach initiatives.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, with two to five years of related experience and/or training.
  • Commercial and Instrument Rating for the category and class of aircraft, with an ATP rating in category meeting this requirement.
  • First or Second Class FAA Medical certificate required.
  • Ability to conduct detailed flight planning with little notice to exacting standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Pilots must have flown in category for a commercial operator or in the military within the previous 24 months.
  • Maintains positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public, striving to maintain a friendly and professional working environment.
