Senior Biology Research Manager

Position Summary:
The Associate Director of Biology will play a crucial role in expanding our capabilities to functionally characterize DACs and identifying and validating target indications. They will oversee a small team of biologists and participate in evaluating novel drug conjugates for applications in oncology and other areas of unmet medical need. This role will also be responsible for program leadership and the opportunity to propose novel treatment ideas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a high-performing team of biologists responsible for functional characterization of degrader-based bioconjugates
- Maintain and expand in-house capabilities to perform in vitro experiments with high throughput and characterize the mechanism of action of innovative payloads
- Oversee efforts for evaluation of target expression in cells and tissues
- Establish, validate, and perform assays and train and support team members as needed
- Co-lead/lead drug discovery projects and assist in preparing documents to support IND filings
- Design and manage in vivo studies at CROs
- Propose novel drug conjugate targets and treatment ideas
- Participate in project teams and actively contribute to the development of an innovative product portfolio
- Mentor and develop staff and support the growth of colleagues
Requirements and Experience:
- Ph.D. in cancer biology, immunology, or a related field
- 8+ years of industry experience in drug development research and 6+ years of successful management/leadership
- Experience in initiating and leading drug discovery projects, including IND submissions
- Strong hands-on experience in designing and executing in vitro and in vivo studies to validate targets and treatment ideas using ADCs, mAbs, degraders, or other targeted therapies
- Strong background in cancer biology and drug discovery, including managing experiments at CROs
- Demonstrated leadership qualities as manager of a core function and as project team leader
- Creativity and problem-solving skills paired with the ability to excel in a highly collaborative environment
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
Additional Skills:
- Proficiency in bioinformatic tools for target validation
- Experience in IHC and/or proteomics
