Job Title: Reading Specialist

The Reading Specialist will play a critical role in providing individualized and small group literacy instruction to identified students in pull-out and push-in settings. This position requires a strong understanding of current Scientifically Based Reading Research (SBRR) and the ability to administer and analyze formal and informal reading assessments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide literacy instruction to students in need of support, using a range of research-based instructional practices and approaches.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and other specialists to align instruction and support to meet the needs of students.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction to meet the needs of individual students.
  • Participate in data-based identification of students in need of literacy intervention and assist in setting goals and planning interventions.
  • Develop and implement literacy programs and interventions to support student achievement.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Reading or a related field.
  • Knowledge of current SBRR and experience with administering and analyzing formal and informal reading assessments.
  • Demonstrated success in raising the literacy achievement levels of traditionally at-risk students.
  • Experience working with diverse populations of students, parents, and families.
  • Ability to self-reflect on teaching practices and be responsive to feedback.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and learning through professional development.
