Overview:

The selected candidate will be stationed full-time in a field office and will play a crucial role in managing the cleanup of coal ash ponds located near a water source. This position requires the ability to oversee contractors effectively and make critical decisions on-site. Exceptional communication skills are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with diverse project teams to meet client objectives and expectations.

  • Communicate any changes, issues, or client requests in a timely manner.
  • Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills for internal and external correspondence, client deliverables, and regulatory submissions.
  • Identify and address technical challenges, contribute to the development of problem-solving strategies, and execute project tasks to fulfill technical, quality, budgetary, and scheduling requirements.
  • Experience in developing and implementing safety protocols, adhering to site-specific health and safety plans, and participating in safety briefings and audits.
  • Oversee subsurface exploration and testing activities, including soil and groundwater sampling, field vane shear testing, and soil classification in compliance with relevant standards.
  • Provide construction oversight and on-site engineering observations for geotechnical and environmental projects.
  • Analyze and report on field data, instrumentation, geological, and environmental information using various tools.
  • Conduct routine data collection and analysis in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to coaching and mentoring team members.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A degree in civil, environmental, or geotechnical engineering is required.
  • Experience working in the field with contractors and stakeholders is essential.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • A minimum of a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; an M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of relevant consulting experience, including on-site construction monitoring and familiarity with excavation, construction dewatering, and coal combustion residuals.
  • Knowledge of geotechnical instrumentation and ground movement studies, including monitoring and reporting on construction-related ground movements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a commitment to project completion are essential.
  • Professional certification in the relevant discipline, such as EIT or PE, is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and data management tools is required.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation for site visits are necessary.
  • OSHA 40-hr. HAZWOPER and OSHA 10-hr. Construction Site Safety training is preferred.
