Job Title: Peer Counselor

Program: Mobile Crisis Outreach Team

Hours: Sunday - Tuesday, Thursday 9am-11am (38hrs/week)

Wage: $17.15-$30.01/hr DOE

About the Role

Compass Health is seeking a Peer Counselor to join our Mobile Crisis Outreach Team. As a Peer Counselor, you will provide peer support services to clients under the supervision of the Program Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide peer support to validate clients' experience and to provide guidance and encouragement to clients to take responsibility and actively participate in their own recovery.
  • Serve as a mentor to clients to promote hope and empowerment.
  • Assist individuals in identifying and accessing community and natural supports, including Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Treatment, peer support groups, and avenues to meet basic needs.
  • Provide reassurance and support to the family/friends/natural supports of the client.
  • Engage in active listening with clients.
  • Assist other program staff in monitoring clients' symptoms and behavior, and in formulating treatment goals within the team process in which each client's point of view and preferences are recognized and respected.
  • Advocate for the participant as deemed appropriate.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Current Peer Counselor Certification preferred.
  • Experience as a Peer Counselor preferred.
  • Lived experience with a behavioral health or substance use diagnosis required.
  • Individuals who do not already hold a license or associate license through the Washington State Department of Health must submit Agency Affiliated Counselor application upon hire and be approved by the DOH.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License including vehicle and appropriate insurance, if applicable.
