Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at Mayo Clinic. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of blood sample collection and processing. Your expertise will contribute to the diagnosis and treatment of patients, and your commitment to excellence will help us maintain our high standards of patient care.
Responsibilities- Collect blood samples from patients using various phlebotomy methods, including venous, capillary, arterial, and line collections.
- Provide rapid response to medical emergencies, such as traumas and codes.
- Work independently and as part of a team to ensure seamless patient care.
- Interact with patients, nurses, providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality customer service.
- Accurately identify patients, label, handle, and transport specimens.
- Operate computer programs and systems to manage patient data and laboratory results.
- Assist with the training of students and new employees.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Phlebotomy certification from an approved laboratory certification agency, such as the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), National Health Career Association (NHA), or the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT), preferred.
- Experience working in a medical field, preferred.
- Ability to push a cart and walk distances.
- Moderate to advanced computer skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
