Job Summary

We are seeking a Mental Health Support Specialist to join our team at Henry Ford Hospital. This is a part-time benefit-eligible position that requires working 24 hours per week with every third weekend and holiday rotation.

About the Role

The Mental Health Support Specialist will participate in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. They will work collaboratively with other members of the multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care to patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create a caring and healing environment by following the RBC model and prioritizing patient and family-centered care.
  • Follow written plans of care, report pertinent data changes to primary/associate nurses, and perform direct patient care according to unit standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in didactic groups for patients, manage physical interventions as needed, and assist with activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Measure and record vital signs, provide direct therapeutic interventions, and participate in patient care conferences and treatment planning.
  • Daily documentation and monitoring precautionary status of all patients, implementing unit rounding policy, and providing safety surveillance on the unit.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience or an Associate's degree or Technical degree required.
  • Successful completion of training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (SECURE) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
