Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Design Engineer to join our team at Regal Rexnord. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver successful projects on time, within budget, and with zero quality defects. Your expertise in mechanical design, particularly in the field of bearings and mechanical seals, will be invaluable in driving the development of new products and processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Quality, Planning, Purchasing, and Operations teams to ensure project success
  • Maintain ownership of new product introductions, development activities, and engineering projects across functional lines and operating sites
  • Manage projects tightly to detailed master program schedules and milestones, coordinating schedule compliance for all deliverables
  • Lead and participate in RBS events, the company's operating management system based on the Toyota Production System and the Strategy Deployment Process
  • Maintain and improve existing products
  • Train and mentor less senior engineers
  • Create and maintain policies, procedures, engineering standards, programs, and work instructions
  • Assist in identifying and driving continuous improvement opportunities within facilities and at supplier locations
  • Contribute to breakthrough product development

Requirements, Capabilities, and Success Factors
  • 10+ years of engineering work experience in mechanical design, particularly in bearings and mechanical seals
  • 5+ years of experience in new product/new process development
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline, Master's degree preferred
  • Working knowledge of 3D solid modeling software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, CREO, and/or CATIA
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Six Sigma Green Belt is a plus
  • Strong customer service orientation and high level of interpersonal skills
  • Capable of working and leading within a team structure
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated
  • Strong writing and administrative skills, including computer skills
  • Working knowledge of engineering part drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Background in metal manufacturing environment, including metal cutting and grinding
  • Experience in root cause analysis and formal problem-solving techniques
  • Demonstrated success in multitasking and time and project management
  • Experience working in a lean manufacturing or continuous improvement environment is desirable
  • Knowledge of Stage Gate Process
  • Capable of occasional travel to customers and other plants
  • General working knowledge of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) tools
