ESPO Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Downers Grove, IL. As a key member of our Engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the design and release of mechanical projects, applying sound engineering and machine design principles, and mentoring other engineers and designers on best practices for machine design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and release of mechanical projects
  • Application of sound engineering and machine design principles
  • Mentoring of other engineers and designers
  • Independent site inspections and supervision of equipment installation
  • Participation in brainstorming and design reviews
  • Delivery of projects on time and within budget
  • Assistance in the checking of drawings and analysis of tolerance stack-ups
  • Assistance in developing engineering and drafting standards
  • Issuance and completion of ECOs

Requirements:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 10+ years of experience designing custom machines and industrial equipment
  • Driven and ambitious personality with attention to detail
  • Excellent problem-solving skills in a team-oriented environment
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, and general fabrication
  • A machining/fabrication background is a plus
  • Field experience, customer site audits, and experience supervising installations are a plus
  • Strong CAD 2D and 3D proficiency required, Inventor is preferred
  • Experience with GD&T is preferred
  • FEA experience is a plus
  • 15% availability for travel, including some weekends and international opportunities
