Helicopter Maintenance Technician

As a Helicopter Mechanic with the City of San Diego, you will be responsible for performing skilled and technical work on Bell 212/412 and Sikorsky S70i helicopters. This includes inspecting, repairing, overhauling, maintaining, servicing, and cleaning aircraft, as well as troubleshooting identified problems and initiating corrective measures. You will also be responsible for reading and following manufacturers' maintenance technical manuals, approved aircraft inspection programs, and Federal Aviation Association (FAA) airworthiness directives. Additionally, you will coordinate the ordering of parts and components, remove and replace small and large components, and track components' service life limits. You will also be responsible for scheduling overhauls and maintaining aircraft records, as well as maintaining and coordinating calibration of all tools and test equipment.
Responsibilities
Inspect and repair Bell 212/412 and Sikorsky S70i helicopters
Troubleshoot identified problems and initiate corrective measures
Read and follow manufacturers' maintenance technical manuals, approved aircraft inspection programs, and FAA airworthiness directives
Coordinate the ordering of parts and components
Remove and replace small and large components
Track components' service life limits
Schedule overhauls and maintain aircraft records
Maintain and coordinate calibration of all tools and test equipment
Requirements
Five years of full-time experience maintaining and repairing Bell 212/412 and/or Sikorsky UH-60/S70 helicopters
Three years of full-time helicopter field maintenance experience
Two years of experience as an aircraft mechanic charged with completing major and minor repairs to return aircraft to service
Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic's license
Valid California Class C Driver License
Possession of a valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Inspection Authorization certificate (highly desirable)
Working Conditions
This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines and high levels of stress. The incumbent must be able to work independently and as part of a team, and must be able to lift and move heavy equipment and tools. The incumbent must also be able to work in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
