Position Title: Radio Equipment Tester

Location: Remote work options available with occasional travel requirements.

Position Summary: We are seeking skilled professionals to support our Federal clients in the evaluation and testing of communication devices and systems, ensuring compliance with operational standards and interoperability. This role involves conducting assessments and reporting on the performance of land mobile radios and various communication technologies. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Field Communication Laboratory Manager to deliver high-quality testing services.

The testing will encompass a range of communication equipment including land mobile radios, microwave systems, cellular devices, and satellite technologies, verifying their adherence to user specifications, industry standards, and agency requirements. Certain assessments will be carried out in an ISO-17025 accredited facility, utilizing established protocols and methodologies. Additional evaluations will focus on firmware and software updates from manufacturers, along with integration testing to identify compatibility issues and recommend solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and maintain optimal environmental conditions within the laboratory.
  • Manage the laboratory's internal computer network and records repository.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO-17025 accreditation standards, including quality management and procedural documentation.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to ascertain testing requirements and desired outcomes.
  • Coordinate and schedule testing activities with clients.
  • Handle the inventory of Equipment Under Test (EUT) and manage returns as necessary.
  • Participate in client briefings to present test results and findings.
  • Safeguard testing results and sensitive information, ensuring access is restricted to authorized personnel only.
  • Adhere to Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) established with clients.
  • Assist the Test Engineer with:
    • Configuring systems for standards testing and evaluating software or firmware updates.
    • Conducting tests according to established plans and procedures.
    • Documenting results to meet specified outcomes.
    • Creating detailed technical reports and summary reports for diverse audiences.
    • Updating test plans to align with evolving requirements and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in developing testing procedures or conducting evaluations of field communication and Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems.
  • At least 2 years' experience in IT networking, including Local Area Network (LAN) configurations.
  • Experience in configuring and updating radio communication devices through software or web interfaces.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills with LMR systems across various frequencies and technologies.
  • Familiarity with electronic testing standards set by ISO and IEC.
  • Knowledge of industry standards from TIA, IEEE, and ATIS/3GPP.
  • Understanding of radio theory and the ability to design and test LMR systems to meet operational needs.

Education: A Master's Degree or higher in a relevant field, or a Bachelor's Degree with 2-4 years of related experience, or an Associate degree/Military or Industry Certification with 3-6 years of experience, or a High School Diploma/GED with 5-8 years of relevant experience.
