Job Summary:

As a member of a patient care team, the Monitor Technician plays a vital role in the observation, interpretation, and monitoring of displayed cardiac rhythms under the direction of the Registered Nurse. This position requires prompt and accurate reporting of any deviations from baseline.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms.
  • Remain present at the monitor, except for breaks or when coverage is arranged.
  • Observe and report deviations in rhythms from baseline to the appropriate RN.
  • Assist in identifying patient problems with Telemetry monitoring.
  • Report and record data to the Registered Nurse.
  • Mount monitor strips on documentation flow sheets for review by the Registered Nurse.
  • Assist in identifying supplies and equipment needed for Telemetry monitoring.
  • Perform other related Monitor Technician duties as necessary.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Six (6) months experience required.
  • Education: High School Diploma/GED.
  • License, Certification, Registration: Basic Life Support.
  • Additional Requirements: Basic Computer Skills, Knowledge of medical terminology, and ability to detect and differentiate abnormal cardiac rhythms.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Clerical experience preferred.
  • Cardiac monitoring/EKG certificate preferred.
