Cardiac Rhythm Observer

As a key member of our patient care team, the Monitor Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the highest level of care for our patients. Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, this individual is responsible for accurately observing, interpreting, and monitoring displayed cardiac rhythms.
Essential Responsibilities- Monitor cardiac rhythms accurately and report any deviations from baseline to the Registered Nurse in a timely manner.
- Remain present at the monitor except for breaks or when coverage is arranged, ensuring seamless patient care.
- Assist in identifying patient problems with Telemetry monitoring and report findings to the Registered Nurse.
- Record and report data to the Registered Nurse, facilitating informed decision-making.
- Mount monitor strips on documentation flow sheets for review by the Registered Nurse.
- Assist in identifying supplies and equipment needed for Telemetry monitoring.
- Experience: Six (6) months of experience required, with current KP Coalition employees having this requirement waived per the National Agreement.
- Education: High School Diploma/GED, with successful completion of a course acceptable to the Employer in EKG interpretation.
- License, Certification, Registration: Basic Life Support certification.
- Basic Computer Skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to detect and differentiate abnormal cardiac rhythms, as evidenced by a passing score on a cardiac monitoring/EKG test standardized by the Employer.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Clerical experience.
- Cardiac monitoring/EKG certificate.
