Paralegal Job Description

Connect Search, LLC is seeking a skilled Paralegal to join our Criminal Defense team in Madison. This role involves assisting in the management of criminal cases from inception to resolution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain case files, including electronic and physical documents.
  • Conduct thorough legal research to support defense attorneys.
  • Analyze case law, statutes, and legal articles relevant to cases.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents, such as motions, subpoenas, briefs, and pleadings.
  • File court documents with the appropriate jurisdictions.
  • Assist in pre-trial investigations, including interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence.
  • Collaborate with private investigators and other professionals to support case investigations.
  • Communicate regularly with clients to update them on case progress and gather necessary information.
  • Prepare clients for trial and other legal proceedings.
  • Engage in extensive client contact to provide updates and gather information.
  • Prepare trial exhibits and evidence for presentation in court.
  • Accompany defense attorneys to trial and provide necessary support during proceedings.
  • Attend court hearings and trials to provide support to attorneys.
  • Review and analyze discovery materials to identify key information and evidence.
  • Draft and issue subpoenas to secure necessary evidence and witness testimony.
  • Handle correspondence and communicate with courts, opposing counsel, and other parties involved in the case.
  • Ensure all work is compliant with legal standards and ethical guidelines.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all client and case information.
